About Me

My Photo
Hanover, Pennsylvania
My husband Todd and I have been together 11 years and married for 6. My father, a retired Army Colonel inspired me to enlist in the military at 19 and I am a proud Gulf War veteran having served 9 years in the Air Force. In 2002 I left the military life and we planted our roots in Hanover, Pennsylvania. These days I'm still working for the Department of Defense as a civilian and spent 6 months of 2010 deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. As someone who grew up in a military family, served in the military, and continues to work closely with the military, I understand how critical a strong support system can be. That is why we as a family put our full support behind the Armed Forces Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides comfort and support to our military community when they need it most. www.armedforcesfoundation.org.

Pennsylvania Veterans Commission Meeting

On September 2nd, thanks to PA Rep Jerry Stern, I had the honor of addressing the Pennsylvania State Veterans Commission which is composed of representatives of all the veteran service organizations across the state.

When I walked in the room, a part of me felt like I was home. Seeing the veterans of Korea and Vietnam motioning for support on behalf of their organizations was a great experience. As the meeting ended, I met with the Adjunct General, Brigadier General Gould, who has the has the extremely difficult task of allocating $1 million for the 1 million veterans in PA...$1 per vet, per year.

Despite the limited resources, veterans groups are doing amazing work in our communities, from making sure vets have access to health care to providing scholarships for dependent children. I'm continually impressed and grateful for those who volunteer their time to make sure the veterans that follow are taken care of and continue the legacy!
